At Triangle2 we have observed that the most effective leadership for social impact is provided by a team of volunteers and staff with passion for a common cause, trust, and courage. The activities and characteristics of individual leaders are clearly important – but it is the power of the team that makes the most profound difference in sustained, significant results of an organization.
Our focus is on organizational performance and how to harness the collective talents of teams of people to deliver desired results. This team approach is not a slow, consensus leadership model. We encourage the development of a carefully crafted, long term vision, but we believe results must be measured in months, weeks, and days. Confronted with difficult choices in challenging times, decision making needs to be done on a platform of “input by many, decisions by few”. And those few need to be part of effective leadership teams with the trust and courage to do what is right no matter which way the wind is blowing.
Developing high functioning leadership teams is not an isolated set of activities. It is an extensive customized process that involves risk, trial and error, commitment, and investment all focused on identifying and achieving desired results.
